New lesson types, a more organized community, and greater control in the admin panel
In the Memberspot Insider, we took a look at what's been added over the past month—and there was quite a bit. We don't add new lesson types to Memberspot every month, but this time we added two at once.
The recap is divided into four sections: new lesson types, community, admin features, and the new onboarding process —plus a little bonus at the end. If you missed the webinar or would like to review specific points at your own pace, here’s the recap.
Quick tip: You can find the full recording on YouTube and in our community under Courses → Recordings 2026. That’s where all of this year’s Insider webinars are posted.
Lessons That Offer More
With the AI Agent lesson and the Attributes lesson, you’ll gain access to two new lesson types. These allow you to integrate AI agents from AI Studio directly into your courses and significantly improve the personalization experience for your members.
The AI Agent Lesson
You can now integrate any AI agent you've set up directly into a lesson. The agent answers questions and engages with your members on specific topics—seamlessly as part of the course.
The difference from the AI Assistant: The agent in the lesson is completely focused on this course or this lesson. He has exactly the knowledge that is supposed to be taught there, and uses it to engage specifically with the member.
- Agent initiates the conversation: For each agent, you specify whether and how they should start the conversation. Using the instructions or the suggested prompt, you control what the agent should talk to the member about.
- Ways to use it: to assess learning progress, as a practice partner to reinforce knowledge, or as a direct service for your students.
- Mark as Complete: Just like with a text lesson, the member marks the lesson as complete on their own once they're ready to move on.
Important: The integrated agents must be approved or public for the access linked to the course—otherwise, interaction is not possible.
A thought for the future: It’s conceivable that the agent might require a specific goal to be achieved before the lesson can be completed. Currently, the member decides for themselves.
The Attributes Lesson
With the "Attributes" lesson, you can query member attributes stored in the system directly within a lesson. The member sees the fields, enters their information, saves it, and completes the lesson.
- You can mark the entire lesson or individual attribute fields as required. If required fields are left blank, the lesson cannot be completed.
- You can customize titles, descriptions, and everything else you're familiar with from regular lessons just as you normally would.
- The values you enter are available for review directly next to the member's profile in the admin panel.
Things get really interesting when combined with Background Agents and automations: Based on the attributes, processes can be triggered—such as follow-up actions in external systems as soon as certain information has been entered.
A few things you should know
The lesson on attributes is just the tip of the iceberg.
- There is currently no option in the interface to directly export attributes (e.g., as an Excel file for all members of a course). However, such reports can already be generated via MCP, the API, and, consequently, the agents.
- Saving an attributes lesson should be part of the webhook automation. If that doesn't work for you, let us know—and we'll take care of it.
Over the next few months, we’ll be significantly expanding the features for member submissions and forms. The goal: You’ll be able to collect input from your members directly in Memberspot, instead of having to cobble together your own solutions in external systems. Export functions will be available by then at the latest.
Community Updates
We're continuing to work hard on the community—and there will be more major updates coming here by the end of the year. Here's what's new in September:
Bookmarks – located in the center of the side menu
Members can bookmark lessons and community posts in the member app. A new feature is that all bookmarks are now displayed centrally in the side menu. This helps your members navigate the app more easily and quickly return to content they found interesting.
Good to know: If a member loses access to a Space or a post is deleted, the bookmark will also disappear. If someone reports that a saved post is missing, this is usually the reason.
The Side Menu – Reorganized
The side menu is now divided into two sections: Content and Personal (with bookmarks and to-dos). The chat inbox will also be added here shortly, once we release the chat feature in the app.
- You can customize the labels of the standard menu items in the text settings under Admin Settings.
- You can enable the side menu under Design → Menu → Side Menu. The default is the horizontal top menu.
Improved Search in the Community
Community posts now appear in global search results. For each result, you can see which community or space it’s in—and you can narrow down the results using space filters. This is especially helpful for sorting through results when searching for terms that come up frequently.
Precise timestamps
Relative time references such as “four days ago” now display the exact date when you hover over them with the mouse. A small change, but a big help—especially for moderators who need to know exactly when something happened.
AI Labeling for Content
You can now label content in your learning area as AI-generated. This is based on the EU guidelines for labeling AI-generated content, which have been in effect since August and which we have adopted almost entirely as is. There are three options to choose from:
- Created without AI: no label in the member app.
- AI-generated: The note is displayed in black.
- AI-modified: The note is displayed in gray.
The indicator is intentionally subtle but easy to find—when you hover over it, members see an explanatory tooltip. This labeling works in courses and also for images in the community; in galleries, it even applies to individual images. By the way, the guidelines that apply to you depend on your use case: Different requirements apply to an employee portal than to courses for sale.
More Control in the Admin Panel
Improved Member Search
The member search in the admin panel now displays results much more clearly—including email addresses. If you have multiple members with the same name in a large learning area, you can tell them apart at a glance.
Custom Permissions for Admins
Until now, there were standard roles (Owner, Admin, Support, Content) and custom roles. New: When creating an admin, select "Custom" and enable only the permissions that this person needs—without having to create a separate role first. Permissions can also be adjusted later via the edit function.
Our recommendation: Especially in larger systems, role-based permissions give you the best overview of who is allowed to do what. Individual permissions are ideal for smaller learning environments or when you need to get things done quickly.
The New Onboarding with Missions
The large Quick Start section on the Admin App's home page is now much more compact. You have direct access to the AI Agent, the Knowledge Center—and the new missions.
The missions are based on your status in the app—that is, on what you've already set up. You choose which topic you want to explore, and the app guides you through it step by step.
This is also worth it for long-time customers: In the future, we’ll be unlocking new missions to go along with new features—especially in the AI space. So checking the missions regularly will help you get to know Memberspot even better.
Bonus: AI Agents as Your Home Page
You can now use AI Agents not only in lessons: In the design settings, under "Home Pages," you can select AI Agents in addition to Courses, Community, and Portals. The agent will then be the first thing your members see after logging in.
Ideal for AI-powered consulting products or lead funnels where the agent takes center stage. Combined with the feature that allows the agent to initiate the conversation, you can tailor the opening conversation exactly to your specifications.
Do you have any feature requests?
The best place to start is the Ideas Board in the Community—that way, we always have a real customer’s voice behind an idea. Would you like a webinar on a specific topic, such as a 40-minute deep dive into a feature? Let us know—we’d be happy to do it.
Outlook: Webinars Through the End of the Year
Five more insider topics are already planned for the rest of the year. In November, there will be two AI webinars—one on Agents and one on Background Agents. In these webinars, we’ll showcase the latest features in detail and provide you with step-by-step instructions.
Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar:
- Nov. 5 - Memberspot Insider: AI Studio - Focus on AI Agents
- Nov. 19 - Memberspot Insider: AI Studio - Focus on AI Background Agents
In short:
The September/October issue of *Insider* showed just how much can happen in a single month:
- Lessons: AI Agents directly in the course and the new "Attributes" lesson for member submissions.
- Community: Bookmarks in the reorganized side menu, global search with a space filter, exact timestamps, and AI tagging.
- Admin: A more user-friendly member search and customizable permissions without a dedicated role.
- Onboarding: Missions that guide you step by step through Memberspot—plus AI Agents as your home screen.
Or in one sentence:
Memberspot is becoming more personalized, easier to navigate, and even smarter—and there’s still plenty in store as the year comes to a close.
Have fun trying it out—and if you'd like, join our community at community.memberspot.de.
