The Hanomag site is well known to every Hanoverian. Robert Giebenrath and his team from RG Finance have taken up residence in a beautiful office in the former Hanomag management building. The Hanomag buildings are an important example of German industrial architecture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

At the weekend we were invited to the RG Finance event.

What does an external CFO do?

A CFO, i.e. Chief Finance Officer, is responsible for a company's finances and ensures that the management has an overview of the company's financial situation at all times. Accordingly, their tasks include monitoring accounting, planning and controlling as well as providing strategic impetus from a numerical perspective. 🔍

As an external CFO, Robert offers this service to growth companies. He represents clients from the e-commerce, coaching and agency sectors, among others, and invited his clients to the office opening.

Choosing the right financial strategy

The first presentation at the RG Finance Day event: Robert is an external CFO for growth companies, he and his team support companies in achieving secure and profitable growth. In his presentation, he explains that the right financial strategy depends largely on the entrepreneurial goal. 

There are two possible destinations

On the one hand, it makes sense to establish safe cash cows.

But what exactly is a cash cow anyway? 🐄💰

In German, you would probably call it a cash cow. This is a company that generates high profits without much effort, i.e. a (cash) cow that just needs to be milked.

Without much effort should mean that the owner/managing director no longer has to do much operational work themselves. This can only succeed if reliable systems and processes are established in the company that are well documented and explained, e.g. via Memberspot 😁, but more on that later!

And what is the second option? 💸

The exit strategy: You build up a company with a high value over several years, then sell it again at a good price and then withdraw from the company. 🏝️😎

In the exit strategy, it is important to determine the buyer persona at an early stage and increase the company value. By buyer persona, we mean who will buy the company. 

If a company's finances are in good shape, it is much easier for potential buyers to make a good offer for the company. It is much easier for potential buyers to make a good offer for the company. He knows much more about what he is buying.

Legally compliant scaling

The next speaker was Dr. Dominik Herzog. He is not your typical lawyer. 

On his YouTube channel with over 17 thousand subscribers, Dominik shares insights from his life as a lawyer.

Before starting his own business, he worked for ProSieben and accompanied Galileo, among others. He is also the founder of AGBanwalt.de and a founding partner of SYLVENSTEIN Rechtsanwälte.

In his presentation, he talked about the top 10 biggest legal mistakes that you can make as a growth company and backed this up with stories from his day-to-day work.

A small excerpt, 3 errors according to Dominik:

  • Terms and conditions are just copy & paste anyway: Unfortunately not, because a warning for incorrect terms and conditions can quickly cost 20k euros. Much more than going to a lawyer
  • I inform all my customers about their right of withdrawal: Unfortunately, it is not wise to inform B2B customers about the right of withdrawal, as they normally do not have one.‍
  • Every customer is a good customer: Dominik also used to pick up the phone himself to qualify customers in advance. He has now outsourced this to employees because he also only wants to work with customers who are fun to deal with.

KPIs in HR - optimize personnel costs

After the lunch break with a delicious buffet, Felix Anrich from Fairfamily GmbH explained the most important key performance indicators in the area of human resources and how companies manage to retain employees in the long term. 🔒

Specialist companies congress by A&M Consulting

A week later, Fritz returned to Hanover for the specialist company congress. ✈️

The congress was organized by A&M Unternehmerberatung

The managing directors and founders of A&M, Alexander Thieme and Marvin Flenche, provide craft businesses with predictability and growth through ready-to-buy customer inquiries and qualified specialists.

Fritz met Alex and Marvin at Robert's office opening and the two spontaneously invited him to the congress, as specialist companies also benefit enormously from clear processes.

Since one speaker canceled, we stepped in. 😁

At the beginning, Alex and Marvin introduced A&M Unternehmerberatung and briefly explained the process to us all. 

Then we got straight down to business with a presentation by the two of them on the topic of boosting existing customer business and solving short-term bottlenecks. 🎬

After a relaxed coffee break, Alex and Marvin talk about the skilled worker dilemma and systematic costing . That was really interesting. 🤓

Robert, whose office opening we had attended the week before, then gave a presentation on liquidity management before everyone went into a well-earned lunch break. 🥘 😋

Once we were all relaxed and full, Felix, who we had also met the week before at Robert's, got us started with a talk on unique employer marketing. 🤝🏽 

Alex and Marvin then explained how to attract good employees even today. ✍🏽

Now it was time for Fritz's appearance, he talked about how to set up a craft business digitally. ⏰

Fritz presented the internal training area of Sascha Schalk, Managing Director of Cool & Smart GmbH.

Our conclusion 

The inauguration of Robert's office in the former Hanomag management building was a great event. Not only did we gain a lot of knowledge from the various presentations, we also met some great customers and acquaintances and were able to talk to everyone in person. 🤝🏽

Not to forget: The tour of Robert's beautiful office in a building so steeped in history. 👀

We were really happy about the spontaneous invitation from Alex and Marvin, what the two of them have put together is really great. 👏🏽

Crafts businesses in particular can ideally optimize their processes with training areas for customers and employees. 👷🏽

The two weekends in Hanover showed us once again how important and enjoyable it is to meet prospective customers and customers in person and how much we enjoy networking with so many great people. 🫶🏽
