Fresh back from OMR Festival 2023, we can still feel the buzz of energy in our ears. What an event! And because we know you're just as excited as we are, we're sharing our impressions, experiences and learnings with you. So pack your digital rucksack and join us on this journey to Europe's biggest online marketing festival. 🎒
Let's first take a look at the roots of this impressive festival. Originally founded in 2011 by Philipp Westermeyer, the OMR Festival has grown from a small insider event in an old factory building in Hamburg to a huge event that brings together the entire digital marketing landscape. 🤝🏽
But the OMR Festival is just the tip of the iceberg. OMR is much more than that: they very successfully run a blog, a podcast and a platform for digital education, all with the aim of highlighting and discussing the most important trends and topics in online marketing. So it's a constantly growing universe of knowledge and inspiration aimed at anyone involved in digital marketing in any way. 🌐
We witnessed this impressive diversity at this year's OMR Festival 2023. 🤩
On May 9 and 10, 2023, tens of thousands of people from the digital and marketing scene came together at the OMR Festival in Hamburg. Visitors were offered a comprehensive program of large stages, masterclasses, side events, guided tours, exhibition halls and concerts in the exhibition halls and across the city. 🙌🏽
OMR stands for content and this is delivered by countless speakers on various stages. But when the sun goes down, they make way for the live acts and the festival lives up to its name. 💃🏽
The OMR Festival offers its visitors an extensive program on various digital and marketing topics. We experienced two days full of keynotes, panels, talks and live concerts. 📣
40 well-known speakers and experts from all over the world were in attendance. 👋🏽
The Conference is the big highlight of the OMR Festival every year. It was just as difficult to get a spot at the Conference Stage. Entrance fences were erected in front of the hall and stewards with neon yellow vests and bright green spotlights showed guests the way. So if you wanted to see one of the star speakers, you had to get in line pretty early. ⏰
shared their knowledge on the Conference Stage:
RAF Camora, artist and music manager, was also announced but unfortunately had to cancel due to illness. 🤒
This stage was hosted by none other than Kai Pflaume. 🎤
However, if you didn't get a seat on the Conference Stage, you could switch to one of the three other stages and listen to no less interesting presentations. 👂🏽
The Red Stage, presented by Vodafone, brought together innovative minds who discussed the future of marketing and technology with visitors. 🧠
58 speakers and experts such as:
shared their experiences and learnings on the Red Stage. 🔴
Even more expert knowledge from the world of marketing was shared on the Yellow Stage. 🟡
The Yellow Stage offered a wealth of marketing knowledge on a wide range of topics such as technology, e-commerce, platforms and CRM with well-known speakers. ⚙️
We were able to gain insights and learnings on technologies, climate tech, e-commerce, platforms and cultural marketing. 👀
The 71 speakers included:
So many experts on so many stages, it was impossible to attend all the interesting presentations. Of course, some were running at the same time, but the distances between the individual stages and halls were also quite long. Our pedometers showed just under 20 km on the first day. 👣
Those who wanted a mix of entertainment and keynotes in between visited the Blue Stage. 🔵
The impressive Blue Stage offered a unique combination of entertainment and keynotes on marketing knowledge, presented by exceptional speakers. 🎉
The Blue Stage in the Networking and Food Hall stands for a combination of entertainment and hard-hitting marketing keynotes, and the 78 speakers on this stage were also of a very high caliber. 💎
Speakers included:
In addition to presentations and entertainment, there were also plenty of treats and space for networking. 🍕
Friends of good taste not only found a wide variety of delicacies here, but were also able to indulge their passion to the full on the Food Stage. 🥐
In collaboration with pleasure, what belongs together came together here on both festival evenings: delicious food, drinks and a stage program that knocked food enthusiasts off their chairs. 🪑
Lectures on all topics relating to food and drink were held on the Food Stage by 62 experts in their field. 🍲
Among others from:
Away from the entertainment and the shows, the OMR Festival is aware of its influence and reach and is therefore specifically setting an example for equality with the 5050 Stage. 🤝🏽
The 5050 by OMR initiative stands for one thing above all: fairness. They offer a platform for topics relating to diversity and equality. The 5050 Stage was held again in 2023, where 37 founders, leaders and activists spoke about how we can live and work equally in the future. 💪🏽
These and many other speakers shared their visions:
Interested parties and experts from the financial sector came together on two other stages. Fintechs, insurtechs, neobrokers and cryptocurrencies - the financial world is undergoing radical change and the Finance Forward conference is an important place to exchange ideas on all these topics. To see the program, however, you needed a separate ticket. However, this also allowed you to visit the entire OMR Festival. 🏦
On 2 stages, 38 speakers provided insights and practical knowledge. 🗣️
The financial sector is in a state of upheaval, so many people are asking themselves who of the new players they should have on their radar, what the most important trends are and which technologies are driving them forward. All this and more was discussed at the Finance Forward Stages. ⏳
The Finance Forward conference was all about the transformation of the financial world. The most exciting personalities in the industry from Germany and around the world gathered on stage. They came from fintechs and banks, digital labs and the crypto scene and talked about their plans, what drives them and where their journey is taking them. 🧳
To name just a few of the speakers:
You weren't there this year? Don't worry, there are livestreams of selected presentations from almost all stages. Experience inspiring keynotes and exciting panel discussions from the comfort of your sofa. 🛋️
You can watch the livestreams here:

In addition to the countless presentations on a total of 8 stages, there was also a huge selection of masterclasses. Each participant could apply in advance for up to 6 masterclasses. 🏆
In exclusive 90-minute masterclasses, OMR experts and their partners provided detailed knowledge on a wide range of topics.
Practical insights instead of gray theory is the motto of the masterclasses, so participants can take away profound learnings. 🧰
However, it wasn't just the master classes that visitors had to apply for; they also had to register in advance for the guided tours. ✍🏽
You choose your core interest or an exciting tour guide and walk with him or her through the OMR Festival Expo. Various companies and OMR itself offer these tours. They cover every conceivable digital marketing topic, companies share insights and added value and visitors make contacts and expand their knowledge. 🤓
As if that wasn't enough, there are also plenty of side events that run parallel to the OMR. 🥳
During the period surrounding the OMR Festival, the whole of Hamburg is transformed into a hotspot for the digital and marketing world. The OMR partners' side events extend the festival beyond the event site into the whole city and thus ensure even more diversity. Away from the hustle and bustle of the trade fair, visitors were able to make new contacts, network and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. 🍹
But the OMR Festival would not be a festival without its musical component. The musical performances were at least as impressive as the presentations. ♪
Anyone who has ever heard of the OMR Festival knows that the good old OMR tradition says that you have to dance after work to some really great music. That's why there were live concerts with some of the country's best-known acts from 6 pm on both festival days. 🎤
On the first evening, we made our way to Hall B5, the secret place of the concerts, in good time. Secret Place because nobody knew exactly where and who was playing when. Fortunately, we found out in good time. After we had made our way into the hall, and "made our way" is really an understatement, because there was pushing and shoving for all we were worth, Hamburg's Goldkehlchen kicked things off. This was followed by Fettes Brot, Badmómzjay, K.I.Z and Oli.P. It was a completely successful end to the first evening, the acts created a great atmosphere and we even ended up more or less unintentionally in the K.I.Z. mosh pit. ✊🏽
The second evening began with Shari Who, followed by Jan Delay, Macklemore, Miami Lenz and Stella Bossi. Once again, the atmosphere was at its peak and everyone celebrated the last evening of this energetic event. 🎉
As well as all the learning and networking, the festival also offered plenty of opportunities to have fun and relax. There were a variety of food trucks offering everything from vegan treats to gourmet burgers. And of course, there were also a number of after-parties at the Expo Area booths where attendees could relax, dance and mingle. 🙌🏽
The OMR Expo once again brought together the most innovative people and companies from the digital scene. Whether large corporations such as Vodafone, Google & Co, e-commerce companies, digital start-ups or German SMEs. 🏢
In total, there were three Expo halls, two Premium Expos and one hall in which mainly medium-sized companies and start-ups presented their services. In the Premium Expo halls, companies such as Meta, TikTok, Zoom, Audi, Vodafone, OBI, Google, YouTube, Sony, Spotify, Snapchat, SAP, Shopify and many more set up their impressive stands. A number of companies also offered their own masterclasses at their stands, so you were almost flooded with added value and knowledge at the OMR. 🌊
OMR is definitely the right event for inquisitive minds. 📚
Another interesting aspect of the OMR Festival is the fact that it not only looks at the past and present of digital marketing, but also looks to the future. There were numerous discussions and talks about emerging trends and technologies, from AI and machine learning to sustainable marketing and data protection. This forward-thinking attitude is another reason why the OMR Festival is such an important event in the marketing world. 🔮
The OMR Festival is also a great place to network. With thousands of participants from all over the world, there are countless opportunities to network, exchange ideas and potentially meet future business partners. It was truly inspiring to see how many people were willing to share their knowledge and experiences and learn from each other. 🌐
The OMR not only offers the annual festival, but also a wide range of other services. The OMR Report, a monthly industry report, offers in-depth insights into current marketing trends and strategies. The OMR Podcast brings interviews with leading minds in the industry directly to your smartphone. And with the OMR Academy, the company also offers online courses to help you take your marketing knowledge to the next level. 🔝
Looking back, the OMR Festival 2023 was an unforgettable experience. It was an intense mix of learning, networking, fun and inspiration. We met a number of customers and consistently exciting people, were able to listen to the industry's greatest speakers and experts, partied hard and had a really good time. 🙏🏽
We hope this report gave you a little insight into the world of the OMR Festival and that you enjoyed reading it. 😊
