On the road to success thanks to a landing page? With this structure it succeeds!

Want to generate more visitors to your website and more sales? 💰

Then you should definitely make sure that you have structured your landing page. A good design can help keep visitors on your website for longer, make them more interested in your service or product and ultimately turn them into customers.

A direct line between your offer and the demand from your target group is essential for any type of online offer. A sophisticated website provides valuable analysis data and enables forecasts and forward planning for your business - from the website itself to the final execution of your online courses. And the sooner your website design is optimized for search engines, the greater your success will be! 🍀

In this article, we'll show you how to successfully reach your target group with your landing page and what you need to take into account. 🎯

Are you currently facing the same challenge? No problem - we'll give you a step-by-step guide. First of all, we'll clarify whether a landing page is absolutely necessary. 🤔

The fundamental question: Do you absolutely need a landing page for your course offer?

Without a doubt: Yes.

It leads the visitor to his destination as quickly as possible - to get exactly what he was looking for.

The site ensures that every potential customer takes just one action - and that is to interact with you. You decide in advance whether this should be done by registering for certain areas of the site, signing up for one of your online courses or subscribing to your newsletter.

In this way, such a landing page initially ensures a much more targeted communication than your more extensive website does, because visitors are not distracted by other information. 👀

Tip:

For providers of virtual courses, seminars, workshops and training programs in particular, it is almost impossible to do without such a website. 🔦

After all, the landing page is what attracts new customers and keeps your business going. The rate of your new customer growth will only increase if you also present your online course online. Your visitors should see directly what you want to draw attention to. 📣

Therefore, your extensive website is not enough and you need a landing page, but what exactly is it?

What exactly is a landing page - and how does it differ from your website?

Figuratively speaking, this is a kind of "runway" where curious and interested Internet users first do one thing: arrive. 🛬

In most cases, your landing page is referred to by advertisements or you use your existing organic reach and your newsletter to draw attention to it.

The individuals in your target group land directly in the middle of their goals in your online course offering with a single mouse click: 🏁

  • Booking 💻
  • Commissioning ✏️
  • or ultimately the purchase option 💸

On a classic website, on the other hand, there are several intermediate stops that the site visitor can choose to visit, or not. 🚏

This hides the disadvantage behind a website that the visitor does not see valuable information at all, for example because they cannot find the relevant subpage. Your website is filled with valuable information, but you want to point out exactly one thing to the potential buyer and not overwhelm them. 🪧

→ And your landing page makes up for this shortcoming. ☝🏽

It ensures that your users are not "distracted" by other information, but focus solely on the product you are currently promoting

For this reason, a landing page should not be confused with other types of web presence such as the homepage of your website (the "start page"). Although a homepage can function as a landing page itself, this is neither mandatory nor explicitly recommended. 🖥️

As a rule, landing pages are specially created, individual pages with condensed information content and very limited navigation. They cannot usually be found via the main website.

Their main goal is the so-called increased conversion; the conversion of the current status of your site visitor into a new status. 🚦

-> Specifically: Your prospective customer becomes a customer.

You decide together with the web designer how this should be done. It can be a registration on an e-learning platform for a trial membership in the community, but also the direct booking of any courses. These are possibilities for your landing page, your goal is to attract as many customers as possible. 🎣

‍Nowwe know a bit more about landing pages, if we now compare the website and the landing page, what are the advantages and disadvantages?

What advantages or disadvantages does the landing page have compared to websites?

If you compare a landing page with a website, there are certain advantages and disadvantages on both sides, here we have listed some of them:

A major advantage of the landing page is that the focus is placed on a specific goal. It is designed to collect leads or promote the sale of a specific product. This allows the message to be communicated specifically to the target group and increases the visibility of your online course. 🎯

There are also fewer distractions on a landing page than on a website, as potential buyers are not distracted by the menu bar, sidebar links or other pages and content, for example. 🔎

Since there is only one goal on the landing page, measurability is easier. You can quickly see which elements are working and which are not. For this reason, it is easier to optimize the page to increase the conversion rate. 📈

However, there are also disadvantages to a landing page. The potential buyer will only find limited information on it, as it is aimed at a specific target. 🤏🏽

As a result, they do not immediately receive all the information about the company or the product. As a company, you may therefore inspire less trust in prospective customers. 🔗

In addition, a landing page often has to be created separately, which is associated with additional costs. This is because the design and programming not only take time, but also money. 💎

A landing page can be worthwhile despite the disadvantages, because the focus is placed on a specific goal , there are fewer distractions, better measurability and easier optimization. It therefore depends on the specific goal and the target group whether a landing page or a full website is the better choice. It is important to ensure that the landing page is attractively designed. 🛠️

So is there an optimal landing page structure?

Yes, there is such a thing and it differs significantly from the structure of your actual website. To ensure that the landing page is not only well received but also fulfills its purpose, you have to literally guide your visitors through it, i.e. so that they don't lose interest and the focus is still on what you want to convey to them. 👥

The first step of this tour is to let your visitors know who or what they are dealing with. 🔝

A logo for distinctiveness?

To briefly and concisely clarify who you are and what you stand for with your online offer, you should ideally harmonize three things:

  • your logo 💫
  • the offer and 📄
  • the reason why the site visitor should choose your course offer of all things! 🫵🏽

It is best to link the homepage of your website in your logo - this is another reason why you should avoid a homepage that is not designed as a landing page for these purposes. The link in the logo would make no sense here, because the added value would be missing due to the same information content.

The Hero Shot: How much image is too much?

The human eye scans the most prominent parts of your page. This makes it all the more important to use precisely these to convey the most important information at a glance . 👁️

The brain processes visual representations faster than videos or blocks of text, as they do not have to be played or read and understood first. 🧠

A single photo with deliberate contrasts and expressiveness, supplemented by a keyword description of your offer, is therefore ideal for your landing page. This will catch the eye of your prospective customers and encourage them to buy. 🚀

Tip:

Don't forget to mention your unique selling point and the customer benefits of your courses! After all, your potential customers want to know exactly why they should buy your product.

The call-to-action: Is it really that indispensable?

You've probably heard of the call-to-action button. It encourages interested parties to buy something or register for your online course and catches the eye of your potential buyer with a special call to action.

If you're thinking of common and clichéd call-to-action examples like "Book now and get a 10% discount" or "Sign up now", you're probably wondering if you should really be using these hackneyed phrases. 👇🏽

No!

The CTA can be implemented far more creatively. And it is particularly efficient when it is "different".

Whether obvious or imaginatively packaged, the CTA on the landing page should never be missed. So think about a unique call to action so that your site visitors quickly become your customers. 🫂

Expressive insights - how much "free" is okay?

In addition to customer reviews and testimonials, short excerpts from the content of your courses are also suitable for captivating prospective customers. This gives them a direct and unadulterated insight into what goes on behind the doors of your CTA. 🏰

This is because the free offer allows them to try out your product or service before they make a purchase decision. This is particularly common with software applications and online services where the company later works towards a paid membership or upgrades.

However, an offer becomes questionable if it is offered completely free of charge. If a company does not generate revenue from its product or service, it must earn money elsewhere, for example by selling user data or advertising. In such cases, the company may not really be interested in long-term engagement with its customers and instead focus on short-term profits.

However, in order to refer people to your page in the first place, your landing page must also be appealing. But how do I design my landing page? 🎨

When is the landing page optimally designed?

Now that you know what a landing page actually is, it is advisable to look at this topic from the perspective of your future site visitors. Under what circumstances or conditions do you follow the CTA? And when not? 🤷🏽

Of course, the visual design, the integration of various elements (images, text, sound, video, buttons, links, etc.) and their positioning play an important role. 🖌️
However, there are also a whole host of functions that your site visitors take for granted. A link that leads to the wrong page - or ends in "Error 404" - is unlikely to result in a course booking. Your email link is also embedded in vain if your email host has blacklisted certain senders and their emails never reach you. 📧

The design of your site is therefore not just about its appearance, but also about its user-friendliness, which goes hand in hand with simple (and accessible) navigation. This results in the user experience; if this is positive, it also contributes to the desired action of the site visitors.
In addition, the overall design (visualization plus functions) must be optimized for search engine retrieval. You can achieve this primarily through three main aspects:

  • the correct formatting 📃
  • a suitable heading structure 🔖
  • the appropriate utilization of the content with different keywords 🔑

Tip:

There is no such thing as the perfect landing page. The internet is constantly changing, as are the demands, interests, needs and opinions of your target group. There are also trends that dictate what is "in" and what is "out". Ideally, the website must meet all these needs. At any time, in any place. At the same time. A thing of impossibility. 🙅🏽

‍Youcan optimize your landing page - but you can't perfect it. That's why there is no such thing as search engine perfection, but "only" search engine optimization.

Now we have clarified what we should consider when designing the landing page. 🖊️
However, there are also various tools that you can use to help you set it up. You can find out what these are below.

Which page building tools are recommended?

As in many cases, different tools with equally different features await you. For the sake of simplicity, most website operators fall back on the functions that their provider offers them, as they are already familiar with the basic concept of the service. However, website builder providers do not always pay much attention to the design of individual landing pages. 📜

However, these are very important to attract new customers and get their attention, because the landing page is the first thing they see when they click on a link in the ad or newsletter and are prompted to take action.

Your own CMS as a landing page builder?

A CMS (content management system) is usually a software platform designed to create, manage and publish content such as text, images and videos. It is primarily designed to manage websites and blogs and often offers features such as templates, themes, plugins and widgets that make it easier to create and manage content. ⚙️

However, if you want to create a landing page that is designed to get visitors to take a specific action, such as buying a product or filling out a form, you may need features that go beyond what a typical CMS offers.

Nevertheless, you can use a CMS as a landing page builder, but you should bear in mind that only specific functions are available for building an effective landing page. There are also specialized landing page builders that may be better suited to your needs.

By the way: We at Memberspot build our website and also our landing pages with Webflow and are pretty enthusiastic about it! 🤗

A landing page is a good tool for attracting new customers. But you're not sure whether you need a landing page or not?
We'll show you why it really makes sense.

Still unsure whether you need a landing page?

First and foremost, such a page is essential for your prospective customers to contact you quickly, directly and easily. As a provider of online courses, it is also useful to have an online presence of the same high quality as your offer; and this is much easier with a single page than with a website.

In many respects, it means significantly less effort:

Fewer navigation options mean fewer (error-prone) functions that you need to consider in the design. They are much clearer and therefore ideal for customers who can't take the time to browse through your entire website and still get the most important information.

We already know some facts about the landing page, but what other function does it have? 🧐

What other purposes does a landing page fulfill?

Now that the design has fulfilled its main purpose, namely to encourage your visitor to take a specific action, you can incorporate one or two additional functions on this page. By cleverly positioning additional (subordinate) CTAs, for example, you can turn one goal into several goals. 💡

One example:

The main goal of your site is: The visitor should register for your online course . ⌨️

The secondary goal is: Subscription to your newsletter - your customer will be informed immediately about newly available courses and, in the best case, will also register for another course. 🗞️

This way you can win over your customers and they are more likely to remain loyal to you. It's also confirmation for you that your online course is working. ✅

The provision of so-called "freebies" can also be useful. These are - in monetary terms - free parts of your overall concept that the site visitor receives for leaving their contact details. A freebie can take any form:

  • Short webinars or webinar excerpts 🎥
  • Calculators or generators 🧮
  • Helpful checklists or preparation tips 🌟
  • a complete sample lesson 📖
  • Email challenges or guides lasting several days 📬
  • Digital give-aways (e.g. vouchers) and much more. 🎁

The idea behind this strategy is to attract potential customers and provide them with valuable content that makes them aware of your brand and increases credibility.

Last but not least and to the point

You need a good and well-designed landing page to present your course offer professionally on the market.

Why?

Because it facilitates access to your prospective customers and turns them into customers sooner, faster and in a simpler way than an extensive website. You use it to capture the individuals in your target group and take them to where you want them to go - and where they want to go themselves. Otherwise they wouldn't have clicked on your ad that leads to your site in the first place. 🤝🏽

Once you have successfully designed your site, it is up to you to provide your customers with the information they want. And if implemented correctly, your landing page will also fulfill this purpose.

In the end, your customer not only remains a customer, but - through regular participation in your program and constant contact through newsletters, for example - becomes a loyal member of your community, a brand expert and a worthy representative of your brand through word of mouth - without even knowing it. 👄
