🚀 All changes to the new version 7.1 - exam repetitions, time limits and subchapters

All changes in brief:

  • Limit the number of test runs
  • Set time limits in exams
  • Random order of questions
  • Expanding and closing subchapters
  • New editor

It's that time again, version 7.1 is online, with lots of great features that we would like to introduce to you today. 🥁

There are now sub-chapters that can be opened and closed, time limits and random question sequences for exams, and you can also limit the number of exam runs. 🎉

You can find everything about our new version 7.1 updates here.👇🏽

1. tests

There are two new features in our exam feature, exam runs can be limited and time limits can be set. ⏳

Exam repetitions

You can now determine how often your participants can repeat exams, as it is now possible to limit the number of exam runs in the exam settings.

To do this, go to the course in which the exam lesson is located, select the exam you want to edit and click on Go to exam template.

You can also create a new exam lesson.

Here you can create a new exam or select an existing one.

If you want to select an existing exam, click on Select exam and select the exam you want to add. Once you have added it, you can edit it by clicking on Add to exam template (see 1st screenshot).

If you want to create a new exam, click here (see 2nd screenshot) and then click on New exam. You can also select one of the exams you have already created here if you change your mind.

Regardless of whether you are creating a new exam or selecting an existing one, you will be taken to the Edit exam tab. Under Questions, you can add, edit or delete questions. If you click on Properties and scroll down to Timing/Repeats, you can activate Limit exam runs and limit the number of runs.

If the value is set to X, the member can repeat this test X times until it is passed.

If the member has not passed the test in X attempts, they must ask the admin to reset the attempts to 0.

You can reset the attempts via Members -> Select member -> Reset results.

In this tab, you can also view the exam results of the respective member. In the Results tab, the exam results are now displayed at the top and the mood barometer at the bottom.

2 important points:

  1. If a test run is started and the browser is closed, for example, or you navigate out of the test window, this counts as one attempt.
  2. The exam cannot be repeated once it has been passed. To repeat the exam again, the admin must reset the progress of the relevant exam lesson.

Time limit for tests

From now on, time limits for exams can be set to the minute, so participants only have a period of time set individually by the admin to submit the exam.

You can also find the setting for the time limit in the properties of the test, activate the time limit for the test (minutes) and set the desired minutes.

If, for example, 20 minutes are set and the participant does not submit the exam within the 20 minutes, it is automatically submitted after the 20 minutes have elapsed and the participant cannot answer any further questions. A regular calculation is then made as to whether the participant has passed the exam or not.

Random order

The random order of the questions can also be activated in the exam properties.

If the option is activated, it is possible to declare how many questions of a certain number of points should be included in the exam run.
For example, you could select 10 questions worth 1 point, 3 questions worth 5 points and so on. For each exam run, the questions that meet the specified criteria are then selected from all the questions and are asked in random order. If only the random order is activated, the questions are displayed to the participant in a random order, as the name suggests.

‍2. subchapter

Subchapters can now be opened and closed. 🙌🏽

If the chapter only consists of sub-chapters, the first sub-chapter is always opened when the chapter is opened and the sub-chapters below it are closed.

The preview image of the course in the course detail view and in the chapter is now displayed on the right-hand side of the description box for a more appealing layout.
The text floats around the image and is no longer displayed next to the image.

Please note: If the heading is centered, the image is no longer displayed.

3. new editor

The old editor has been replaced by the new editor that we already use in the community.

All texts that are still in the old editor have been switched to read-only.
If you want to edit the texts now, you must click on the text and then confirm in the dialog.

You don't want to miss out on anything and would like to exchange experiences and use cases with other Memberspot customers?
